The program consists of 15 lessons for children aged 4 to 14, that focus on mindful awareness, brain functions, expressing gratitude, perspective thinking, etc. We will also continue with our Delight programmes: Art with the Watts Gallery Shakespeare with Guildford Shakespeare Company. This year we have implemented a new scheme of work that we have adapted for our children in Art, Design and Technology and Computing called Kapow. Further information is available under the MindUp tab. It is a universal programme and is offered in three versions pertaining. Mind Up helps to make the school a happier and safer place for all children by teaching children about the key parts of the brain and the science behind how the brain influences their thinking, emotions and behaviour in the setting of a mindful community. MindUP is a schools-based social and emotional learning and mindfulness programme. Children learn and develop strategies for keeping themselves physically and emotionally safe including road safety, safety in the environment and safety online. Jigsaw aims to help children know and value who they really are and how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world. Summer 2: Changing Me (including Sex Education) The six puzzles in Jigsaw are Īutumn 2: Celebrating Difference (including Anti-Bullying) Jigsaw consists of 6 puzzles containing 6 Pieces (lessons). The schemes we use are Jigsaw and MindUP. We use two schemes of work to support the teaching of Personal, Health and Social Education. The school culture is built on children being given skills in social and emotional learning that embed our values and a #yeswecan attitude. MindUP is the signature program of The Goldie Hawn Foundation, a not-for-profit organization created in response to the global epidemic of childhood aggression, anxiety, depression, and suicide. This is to ensure our children build a deep understanding of subject knowledge and a progression of learning skills. We have developed our curriculum to meet the needs of our children. Children learn within specific subject lessons, cross curricular links, educational visits and in our workshops and assemblies. We deliver a rich and varied curriculum to meet National Curriculum requirements. ![]() It provides them with the knowledge, aspirations and the drive to succeed. These videos, combined with explanatory text, images, and activities will provide teachers with the materials and support they need to successfully implement MindUP in their classrooms.Our values led curriculum across the school equips our children with life skills for today and beyond. The MindUP online learning platform will feature real-life video examples of the curriculum's principles being incorporated into classroom practice. MindUP skills, including focused attention and non-reactive monitoring of experience from moment to moment, create the potential for long-term impact on brain function and social and emotional behavior of children. MindUP is a suite of social, emotional, and attention-related self-regulatory strategies and skills, developed to cultivate well-being and emotional balance in children and ultimately improve behavior and learning. This project is funded by The Hawn Foundation and will include contributions from faculty at Teachers College and CU.
